Ford releases smartphone app

DETROIT (WNEM) -

There's a new app coming to smartphones.

It's called FordPass, created by Ford.

Angie Kozleski is the company spokeswoman.

"Very much what Apple did for music fans with iTunes, we want to transform the consumer experience with Ford," Kozleski said.

She said FordPass is like a Swiss army knife, having many useful tools.

"If you own a vehicle with sync connect you will be able to remotely schedule it to start, lock or unlock it," Kozleski said. "If you're heading downtown for a sporting event and you don't want to head down three hours in advance, you can use FordPass to help you find and book advanced parking."

Kozleski said FordPass is available to everyone – not just Ford customers.

If you want to browse for a new Ford vehicle, Kozleski said FordPass makes it easy. And if you're already a Ford owner, Kozleski said the new app will make maintaining your ride a lot easier.

"You can go in there you can see when your next service is due and then you can go ahead and schedule service with your local dealer," Kozleski said.

FordPass won't be available until April, but Kozleski believes once everyone gets access to the new app, they'll wonder how they lived without it.

"We believe that FordPass is really that platform that is going to this really strong consumer experience," Kozleski said.
