Former lottery winner offers advice

Many people only dream of winning the lottery, but last year Shaun Nichols from Lapeer experienced that dream come true.

"Goosebumps everywhere running around jumping up and down screaming," Nichols said.

Nichols said he sold a winning Fantasy 5 ticket to himself while he was working at Castaways in Lapeer.

“One day I was at work bored, figured I’d try my luck,” Nichols said. “I hit the easy pick button eight times that night. I won, I didn't find out until two days later when I showed up to work.”

Nichols won a $363,000 dollar jackpot.

He said it changed his life dramatically

“I've been able to purchase some things I couldn't before,” Nichols said. “I've gone on vacation a couple times. The best part, really, has been being able to help other people sponsor a few families for Christmas and help my family and friends out.”

Nichols has a piece of advice for the future winner of the jackpot.

“Give back. Really, give back to the community friends and family save and just have a good time stay positive,” Nichols said.
