SANILAC COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

One person was injured in a vehicle accident early Thursday morning in Sanilac County.

It happened on Schock Road near Russell Road in Delaware Township.

An 18-year-old Minden City woman was traveling northbound on Schock Road when she failed to negotiate the curve, police said.

The accident happened shortly after midnight.

The vehicle entered a ditch on the right side of the road and struck a tree, the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office said.

The driver was not injured during the accident, but her 16-year-old passenger was. The passenger was transported to the Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe by family members where she was treated for her injuries, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
