Pinconning couple without heat told to wait by company

Posted: Updated:
BAY COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Sandra Furrer has been without heat since Saturday night.

"I've been sleeping on the couch with the covers and the cat. And I’ve been sitting in this chair in front of this heater with covers on," Sandra Furrer said.

She purchased her furnace from Sears. And when she called to get it repaired, she was told the part to fix it wasn’t available yet.

"I said so are we just supposed to wait until our pipes freeze? And the lady on the phone said well i can't predict the future. That made me a little upset," Sandra Furrer said.

Then on Tuesday, Sandra Furrer’s husband Charles Furrer saw TV5’s story about the Vickers. They had a similar problem with their furnace and were told they had to wait.

But Sears came out that night.

"I told her that's Sears, we're Sears, give TV5 a call and see what happens. And it worked wonderful," Charles Furrer said.

The couple said they’re glad that TV5 could get some results.

"After four almost five days with no furnace it feels really good," Charles Furrer said.

Work began on the Furrer’s furnace while TV5 was with the couple.

Charles Furrer said he is glad the heat will be back, he said he is looking forward to a more pleasant trip to the bathroom.

"The seat is cold. And I had to put off taking a shower until it gets warm," Charles Furrer said.

Sandra Furrer said she's ready to lose the blankets and these space heaters, and insisted TV5 is the reason her heat has been restored quickly.

"If I ever have a problem again I know who I’m going to call,” Sandra Furrer said.
