Watchdog group petitioning Snyder to release documents on water crisis

Posted: Updated:
FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Common Cause, a government watchdog organization, is calling on Gov. Rick Snyder to drop executive privilege and release all relevant information about the water crisis.

The group started a petition online asking the governor to release water tests and e-mails regarding the crisis.

Common Cause said they want Snyder to use his state-of-the-state address next week to come clean.

"The bottom line here is that Flint families were poisoned by the lead in their drinking water and that information should be readily available for them to investigate on their own," said executive director Melanie McElroy.

That petition has gotten more than 20,000 signatures so far.
