Celebrities challenging one another to raise money for water relief

Posted: Updated:

On social media, celebrities are challenging one another to raise money to help in a city's ongoing water crisis.

President Barack Obama made an emergency declaration in Flint's ongoing water crisis, bringing increased national attention to the city.

On Instagram, following a weekend of social media fighting, Meek Mill challenged 50 Cent to raising money for water donations in Flint.

I got 50k to donate to waters... Let's see if we can have @50cent match me! I'm pretty sure "flint" supported up! Serious post contact .... Roc national will purchase for me and ship! Not even just him all entertainers! I ain't got the [time] for posting memes and s***.

Musician and producer, Sean Combs, known best by his stage names P. Diddy or Puff Daddy, also took to Instagram, promising to organize a water drive with company AQUAHydrate.

EVERYONE PLS REPOST THIS!!! MY FELLOW RECORDING ARTIST!!! This is a repost! I don't know if these facts are true but we need to #WAKEUP and #WAKETHEF***UP INCLUDING MYSELF! Let's LOOK INTO THIS!!! I will share any information I get you do the same!!!! #SpreadTheWordNOW #flintmichigan !! ! @aquahydrate will be doing a water drive and we need your help!!

They both join the recent chorus of celebrities taking to social media to either offer help in donations, awareness or even calling for Gov. Rick Snyder's removal from office.

Most vocally have been Michael Moore and Cher. Cher took to Twitter again on Monday, criticizing Snyder's handling of the water crisis.

On Monday, hip-hop artist Young Jeezy also took to Twitter, calling for greater attention to Flint's water crisis than the lack of minority representation at the Academy Awards.

Why we worried about the Oscars? We need to be worried about what's going on in Flint and Chicago. Mlk didn't die for shows and trophies.
