Radio hosts moving from airwaves to social media streaming

SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

After the shock of being let go from the local radio station, two popular on-air personalities are bouncing back, doing what they love.

Hosts Johnny Burke and Blondie were let go from 96.1 WHNN last week, but are already back on the air.

Overwhelmed by community support, the two are starting their own show.

Just days after the change, Burke is grateful for all the support.

“I'm kind of surprised at the amount of outpouring we got,” Burke said. “But I think we laid the foundation for that pretty well. As I look back at it now and I read the comments that people are making that’s the thing that touched most with the people, is how we were involved in the community. It’s just natural it’s the community we live in we want to make it better right?”

Burke and Blondie are now doing their broadcasts via the free app Periscope.
