Interested in volunteering in water crisis?

Posted: Updated:
FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Those interested in volunteering to help in Flint's water crisis can first contact the Red Cross by calling 810-232-1401.

A spokesperson from the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan said help is needed outside of water distribution.

Because of how many volunteers have offered to hand out water, the food bank is in need of volunteers to sort food at its location on Lapeer Street in Flint.

The FBEM has received substantial donations of water, 350,000 bottles which would fill a football field, stacked five pallets high.

Other volunteer opportunities can be found at HelpForFlint.com.

Gov. Rick Snyder announced the site as a hub for those wanting to volunteer and those who are in need of assistance.
