SANILAC COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Three people have been arrested and several types of drugs have been seized after investigations by the Sanilac Drug Task Force this month.

A 71-year-old Croswell man was arrested on Jan. 9 after cocaine, guns and drug paraphernalia was seized from his Sanilac County residence.

The force executed a search warrant at the Croswell man’s residence on the 200 block of Croswell Road on Jan. 9. They seized pre-packaged packets of field tested cocaine, two long guns, a safe, drug paraphernalia and more than $800 in cash, said Jim Johnson, director of the Sanilac Drug Task Force.

The 71-year-old was released pending the lab results of the seized drugs.

The force made another drug related arrest on Jan. 11.

Assisting the Sandusky Police Department, the force investigated a suspected heroin overdose death of a 36-year-old Deckerville man. The suspected overdose happened at an apartment on S. Morse Street in Sandusky, Johnson said.

Officials executed a search warrant and obtained suspected heroin, prescription medications, marijuana and other drug paraphernalia from the residence, Johnson said.

Investigators believe the recovered drugs may be tied with the Deckerville man’s death.

A 47-year-old man was renting the apartment where the death occurred. He was arrested and charged with possession of heroin and maintaining a drug house.

The investigation into the death is ongoing.

On Jan. 16 the force made another drug related arrest after drugs were found during a traffic stop.

Field tested cocaine, heroin and marijuana were seized in Marion Township during the traffic stop, Johnson said.

Officials also seized a 2006 SUV and more than $750 in cash.

The driver of the SUV resided at a residence on the 7100 block of Maplegrove Road in Delaware Township. Investigators executed a search warrant at the residence and found marijuana, plants, illegal prescription pills, suspected ecstasy, cocaine, packaging materials and more than $1,500 in cash, Johnson said.

The driver, a 43-year-old man, was transported to the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Correction’s Division for booking. He was released pending lab results of the seized drugs, Johnson said.
