Suspect arrested in bank robbery, attempted credit union robbery

SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Police have arrested a man in connection with a bank robbery, and the attempted robbery of a credit union.

Harry Young, 38, is jailed in connection with the robbery of the First Merit Bank and the attempted robbery of Family First Credit Union, both in the city of Saginaw.

Police report that when the First Merit Bank at 2815 E. Genesee was robbed on Jan. 12 a man passed a note to the teller saying he was armed, although no weapon was seen.

Young is behind bars, currently awaiting arraignment.

Chief Bob Ruth stated “I am very proud of our patrol officers for such a quick response to this case and proud of our detectives for great follow-up investigations. I can’t say enough about our collaborations with the Michigan State Police and we are grateful for the assistance from the FBI.”
