SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Hoyt Park in Saginaw is getting its outdoor rink ready.

On Thursday, the non-profit group that helps run Hoyt Park started spraying the water to coat the rink, in preparation for Saturday's opening event.

"Size of the hockey rink is actually over 200 feet wide and one thousand feet long so we have plenty of room for everybody," said Larry Brethauer, Friends of Hoyt Park. "We have hockey playing at one end, open skate in the middle and, way closer to the warming house, we have a kids’ area so they don't have to be bumping into adults and falling down."

Saturday's opening will include free skating, sledding, and hot chocolate.

It runs from 4 to 7 p.m.
