FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

The National Action Network, founded by Rev. Al Sharpton, held a press conference in Flint today.

The group is calling for national mobilization in Washington, DC on Feb. 3. That’s the day Gov. Ricky Snyder is reportedly supposed to be invited to testify before a Congressional Oversight Committee.

“We are convening a national mobilization to Washington DC, using our voices for prayer and our collective activism to fight for justice for Flint,” said Rev. Charles Williams II, President of the Michigan Chapter of the National Action Network.

On Thursday, Jan. 21, David Murray, Press Secretary for Gov. Snyder said:

We have received no communication from the Oversight and Government Reform Committee regarding a possible hearing and look forward to hearing from its leaders. The governor is working to resolve the Flint water crisis, which is the result of missteps of government at all levels – local, state and federal. Governor continues to work to bring resources to help Flint residents now and long into the future, and appreciates the support of our partners in Congress as we move forward.
