LANSING, MI (WNEM) -

Gov. Rick Snyder was denied a second time for a federal disaster declaration to aid Flint.

In a letter from FEMA, the request for a federal disaster declaration was called "not appropriate for this event."

The denial further explained Snyder could make another appeal within 30 day.

Snyder said in a press release he would instead appeal for funds under the emergency declaration that would provide things such as housing assistance and money for emergency protective measures.

"I want to continue working to obtain additional federal resources for the people of Flint," Snyder said. "These programs could help immensely as we work together on continued solutions to problems created by a failure of government at the state, local and federal levels."
