FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

“Yes, there is a great need for water during this time, but the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan needs volunteers to help distribute more than water to those in need,” said William Kerr, president of the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.

The food bank said there are 25 semi trucks arriving every five days to distribute food, water and produce. But they are in need of more volunteers to help sort these resources for the people of Flint.

The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan started in 1981 as a community organization in Genesee County. in 2012, the food bank distributed more than 20.3 million pounds of food in 22 counties.
