Residents protest paying for lead-laced water

Posted: Updated:
FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

More than a hundred people came out to city hall with signs on Monday afternoon.

Residents have been complaining about their water since the city switched to the Flint River as a source.

First, it was the smell and taste. But when it was found to be poisoned with lead, that's when the real outcry started.

Protesters said they wanted to make sure their point is not forgotten.

"We definitely should not be paying for poison lead water. The water should be free until the problem gets solved," said Dion Savage.

Claudi Perkins-Milton said, "The only thing the water is good for is flushing the commode."

The state attorney general is investigating whether any laws were broken.
