Lawmakers take tour of water relief efforts

FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

State lawmakers got a first-hand look at water relief efforts in Flint.

They toured the American Red Cross building, and a flint fire station, which are among several sites for distribution of water and other supplies.

Republican Gary Glenn said even though lawmakers approved a total of $37 million toward relief, coming out sets an example that goes beyond dollars and cents.

"Our obligation goes beyond just casting votes in Flint. So we want to be here today, meet people, see the eye-to-eye, and help resolve some of their health needs," Glenn said.

Some of the visitors took part in handing out the water as well.
