Interfaith group raises money, water for city

SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

More than 30 churches came together in Saginaw help a city to their south.

A revival for worshippers doubled as a water drive. The interfaith meeting encouraged parishioners to bring cases of water for the residents in Flint.

Participants also brought donations to help get clean water and filters to residents.

"Obviously with the situation in Flint, with the water, we want to be a big help," said Andrae Williams, choir boy. "They're a sister city it could just as easily have happened to us. We just want to pull together and help that city out as best as we possibly can."

One of the pastors the event said, now more than ever, he's looking to the Bible to get guidance on how to help Flint in their time of need.

"One of the things the bible gives us the understanding is we are our brother's keeper. And so we are only as strong as our weakest link, so if a brother falls we have to be there to lend a helping hand," said Pastor Kareem Bowen.
