A Mid-Michigan high school football coach has been charged with sex crimes.

Jacob Maloney, 36, Bridgeport High School’s head football coach, was charged with two counts of fourth degree criminal sexual conduct on Jan. 29.

Prosecutors said the coach had inappropriate relations with a female student.

Maloney is out on bond. He is not to have contact with children under 18 years of age other than his own children, officials said.

A parent of a Bridgeport High School student said she is shocked.

"I'm uncomfortable with it," she said.

She doesn’t want to reveal her identity, but the allegations that teacher and coach, Jacob Maloney had an inappropriate relationship with a student alarms her.

In fact, she said had only found out about it before she spoke to TV5.

"We as parents should have known sooner," she said.

While the school system is not commenting at this time, TV5 obtained a voice mail regarding the case.

In it, school officials tell parents that charges were expected:

"Our administration wants you to know Mr. Maloney has been on administrative leave since the beginning of the investigation, and will no longer have further contact with our students."

Maloney made his $20,000 bond on Friday morning on two counts of criminal sexual conduct.

He did not respond to any attempts by TV5 to contact him.

For now, TV5 and parents alike are left with unanswered questions.

The Bridgeport mother said it definitely frightens her.

"I just think they need to check the backgrounds on everybody. We've seen we have some bad apples," she said.
