FRANKENMUTH, MI (WNEM) -

“I guess you could call me a pioneer – that sounds really nice,” said Becky Wortman, laughing.

Pioneer or not, television personality chef Wortman said her sculptures are so good you could eat them.

The celebrity sculptor made a special visit to Snowfest on Friday to show off her latest creation.

“I am doing a fabulous, very heavy frosting sculpture, a kind of Greek Bernini feel to it,” Wortman said.

Wortman said she wants to see more creative cakes in the world. She travels the country sharing her expertise on Food Network and at local bakeries.

“I love the old art history and I want to bring that back instead of seeing like a dolphin, or like a swan,” Wortman said.

Wortman was at Zehnders teaching the staff how to get a little more creative with their cakes.

John Zehnder is already seeing a difference in their cakes.

“Becky is able to teach them those little tricks that take it up one step further. She even put little gold edges on some of the frosting pieces,” Zehnder said.

Customer Ralph Weiss was impressed to say the least.

“I cannot believe that someone has the skill to do such beautiful, beautiful work,” Weiss said.

Visitors to Snowfest can warm up inside and check out Wortman’s buttercream statue. Wortman said she’s already looking forward to next year.

“I just love the atmosphere. It's a nice, warm, fun atmosphere,” Wortman said.
