BEAVERTON, MI (WNEM) -

Lori Brubaker lives on Saginaw Street in Beaverton, she said her street has a lot of problems with the drain system.

“Whenever it rains our road floods bad the drains do not work people's basements are flooding really bad,” Brubaker said.

Brubaker and other neighbors said it's been a problem for several years.

The city manager said estimates have already been drawn up to fix some of the problems.

"The cost estimate to totally rehabilitate that street including the installation of new storm drainage is about $247,000 and to go all the way to Seely which is another block, is about $505,000," said Chris Olson.

Olson has served at city manager of Beaverton since August.

He said city officials are aware of issues with the road, but one of the next steps is to come up with the financing.

"It's insufficiently drained and you can see the condition of the street because of that the street is humped as well as alligatored, a result of poor drainage and that's a historic problem in the city of Beaverton," Olson said.

Residents who are fed up with drain problem hope a fix comes soon.

“Very frustrating, very frustrating,” Brubaker said.
