Jonathan Justice, 23, died over the weekend.

He was found unresponsive by his roommates at his apartment off-campus.

Police said they believe alcohol was a factor.

Dr. Daniel Wilkerson is the director of emergency medicine for McLaren Central Michigan in Mount Pleasant.

“Binge drinking is kind of an event related issue if it's parties sporting events things like that we typically see an increase of patients that are coming in with alcohol related problems around those events," Wilkerson said.

Wilkerson shared some tips for anyone who is taking care of some they are concerned has alcohol poisoning.

"If you think you may have drank too much don't go anyplace unattended you want to kind of buddy up use the buddy system," Wilkerson said. "Stop drinking. Have plenty of water things like that."

Wilkerson also said college students should never be afraid to get help, even if the person you're taking care of is under 21.

“You know we're here to help most of the time when you're calling paramedics and police it's a medical condition at that point and we treat people with privacy,” Wilkerson said.
