FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

An award-winning author met with more than 400 fourth-grade students.

Flint-native Christopher Paul Curtis’s seventh annual writing adventure was held at U of M Flint, giving students the opportunity to interact with the author.

"And it's also important that they see that anyone can do this. We have to plant the seed in their head when they're young and keep them going," Curtis said.

Students will spend several more weeks writing essays to be judged by Curtis with an awards ceremony in May.
