MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, MI (WNEM) -

At least four people are in the hospital after two shootings outside of a Michigan high school.

The shooting happened outside Muskegon Heights High School during a basketball game.

One of the shooting was a sheriff’s deputy who fired at a suspect who drew a gun.

Police believe the shooting stemmed from a fight in Grand Rapids last week.

"We are going to try our best to prevent this, these things from happening," said Muskegon Heights interim police chief, Joseph Thomas. "That is what we tried to do. We had support from three agencies. We tried to talk to the individuals. And they decided to start some unwanted activity. And when you do that folks, I don't mean to be mean and nasty, but we're going to end it for you."

All of the injuries are non-life threatening.
