FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Marseille Allen created a GoFundMe page to help those affected.

She, and friends from across the country promoted the page and, in less than a month, Allen raised more than $40,000.

GoFundMe then chipped in another $10,000.

During his trip to Flint on Thursday, Gov. Rick Snyder honored Allen for all her hard work.

"So I set up the GoFundMe with the initial intent of raising a thousand dollars and getting two more palettes of water and as you see it's $50,000 later," Allen said.

The money is used to buy and distribute bottled water, as well as baby wipes for mothers.
