Samantha Midcalf-Gulliver thought she had won $1,000 with nine words on her $100 Grand Cashword ticket.

When she took her ticket in, she found out she had 10 words and won one of the top prizes for the $3 game.

“I was shocked,” Midcalf-Gulliver said. “I was excited about winning $1,000, but when I found out I’d won $100,000, it was unbelievable. My birthday is coming up Sunday and it’s so great that I won this big prize right before my birthday.”

The Saginaw-native claimed her $100,000 prize on Thursday and plans to pay off her car loan and some other bills.

Midcalf-Gulliver said she wasn’t sure exactly how she was going to spend her 24th birthday, but she said “it’s going to be special.”
