FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Water testing teams are fanning out across the city of Flint.

Groups met Friday morning to go over homes they would visit, teaching residents how to test their water.

Residents are asked to submit regular samples to the state for lead testing.

Bree Bennett is a Kalamazoo resident who's heading up one of the groups and she implores residents to help out.

"This is a very important effort to get an idea of the trends of the lead contamination in the city so we really ask for your support to participate in this effort," Bennett said.

The testing sample includes 402 Flint homes.
