PORT HURON, Mich. (AP) -

A funeral home is raising money to bury the cremated remains of a 79-year-old Port Huron woman who died in a hit-and-run crash.

It took authorities nearly three months to confirm the identity of Eleanor Denise Smith, who was homeless. The Port Huron Times Herald says investigators discovered that Smith's mother is buried at a cemetery in Port Huron.

No relatives have stepped forward to claim the body. Vick Funeral Home in Mount Clemens is trying to raise money for a funeral and headstone. Smith's remains would be buried with her mother's body.

Smith was killed September 2nd. No one has been arrested. Police believe she was struck by a silver Dodge Dakota or Dodge Ram pickup truck.
