A Flint native is helping to create funds to help the children and families impacted by the Flint Water Crisis.

Dallas Cowboy Brandon Carr has donated $100,000 to the Community Foundation of Greater Flint to establish the Carr Cares Fund for Flint.

“I am especially concerned about the children of Flint who now, because of lead poisoning, face tremendous adversity for the remainder of their lives,” said Carr.

An additional $10,000 gift crated the Safe Water Safe Homes Fund to help replace pipes and plumbing for Flint’s most vulnerable residents.

As part of the donation, Carr also asked other to join the cause.

“I call upon everyone including my fellow athletes across all professional sports leagues to do the right thing and support these kids for the long-term through the Carr Cares Fund for Flint.”

Carr said his donation is intended to make sure every child has a chance at health and success. Online gifts can be made at www.cfgf.org.
