FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

The U.S. Surgeon General is continuing his outreach in Flint.

Vivek Murthy and health care providers met with people at Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

His message: Flint is getting help, and more is on the way.

"That's not to say that it's nearly enough. We've got to do a lot more to get Flint back to a place where the water is safe for everyone to drink from the faucet."

But the mere fact that Murthy was in flint spoke volumes.

"It does make a difference, 'cause he is concerned, and he literally came to my house, took out the time to come to my house to speak with me," said resident Nakiya Wakes.

Resident Corey Smith said, "It's very important that people know the government cares and we have backing and support and we're not just in this alone."

Murthy said how Flint deals with the crisis can be a lesson for other U.S. cities.
