SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Four people were injured in a vehicle accident involving a school bus Tuesday morning.

It happened on Shattuck Road in Carrollton Township.

According to Carrollton Township Police, a 31-year-old Saginaw man was taking his 3-year-old child to school and was driving eastbound when his engine light came on, he was distracted, crossed the center line and struck a Saginaw ISD school bus, police said.

The vehicle then left the roadway and struck a house at 970 Shattuck Road.

The driver of the vehicle and his son were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The bus driver and spotter were taken to the hospital for check-ups.

There weren’t any kids on the school bus at the time of the accident.

No one inside the home was hurt.

"I heard this tremendous bang, I came into the living room to look out the winder and, lo and behold, here was the van right at me," said homeowner, Jerry Pietrzak. "I thought for sure it would end up right in my living room."
