WARREN, Mich. (AP) -

A woman accused of stabbing her mother at General Motors' technical center in suburban Detroit will receive psychiatric evaluation tied to her case.

A judge referred the 32-year-old woman Tuesday to the state Center for Forensic Psychiatry to determine whether she's competent to stand trial and criminally responsible for her behavior at the time of the incident.

The woman is accused of stabbing her 52-year-old mother Feb. 10 at the GM complex in Warren. The attack was stopped by a man working as a valet supervisor who pulled out his handgun and told the woman to drop the knife.

The woman is charged with assault with intent to murder and carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent.
