LANSING, Mich. (AP) -

Officials say a mobile food pantry will be used in Flint to help increase access to nutritious food that can limit the effects of lead exposure.

Gov. Rick Snyder says in a statement the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan of Flint is partnering with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to provide 12 truckloads of food in February and March, with the first distribution scheduled Wednesday.

Snyder's office says more than 100 truckloads will be delivered this year to Flint, which faces a crisis with lead-tainted water.

Snyder notes foods rich in calcium, vitamin C and iron can help address effects of lead exposure. An average of 400 families will get food with each distribution.

If consumed, lead can cause developmental delays and learning disabilities.
