SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Some airlines are pre-emptively canceling hundreds of flights as a powerful storm takes aim at parts of the Midwest and Great Lakes region.

MBS Station Chief Tony McDowell says that all United Airlines arrivals and departures have been canceled for today.

At least 900 flights in and out of Chicago have also been canceled.

The vast majority of the cancellations were at O'Hare International Airport, which serves as a major hub for both United and American Airlines.

Several flights at Bishop International Airport have also been canceled. You can view those flights here.

Forecasters say the storm could dump 12 to 18 inches of snow along Indiana's coast of Lake Michigan.
