Saginaw honors Sam Merrill with Certification of Recognition

SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

The city of Saginaw has honored Sam Merrill with the Certificate of Recognition.

The certificate is on behalf of the Saginaw City Council and residents of the Great Lakes Bay Region.

Merrill worked as an anchor and reporter at WNEM-TV5 for 25 years. He passed away on Feb. 25, 2016.

He also served on various boards and community groups throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region.

“Sam earned the respect, admiration, and high regard of all who knew him. His death leaves our community with a deep feeling of sorrow for the loss of such an honored and respected citizen,” Saginaw mayor Dennis Browning said in the certificate.

The certificate was dated Feb. 29, 2016.
