GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Aaron Mason said the joys of being a homeowner aren't so joyful sometimes.

"My hot water went out. So I'm trying to do a little repair on that and I'm not far away so I'm going to hurry in and get out," Mason said.

He had to bust through the snowy roads to get to Home Depot to get some parts, but he promised, it'll be a quick trip.

"Too bad to really be out here," Mason said.

Home Depot remained open, but in Clio, Twin's Pizza shut its doors at 5 p.m.

"For a normal 20 minute drive, it's taking twice that much," said Rob Morrissett.

Morrissett delivers pies for Twins and said the owner made the call because of the deteriorating conditions.

"We just thought it would be best for our safety," Morrissett said. "Sacrificing food and the driver's safety."

Plenty of plows started the grueling process of clearing this mess.

Tom Ayotte works for Chippewa Asphalt and said most of the work will have to wait until the snow stops.

"We'll be back late, 1 or 2 this morning, we'll hit her again. After it quits," Ayotte said.
