SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM/AP) -

Many Michigan roads are icy and snow-covered after a storm brought up to a foot or more of snow in places.

Crashes on Wednesday morning closed a stretch of Interstate 94 in Detroit. WWJ-AM reports two school buses were involved, but no students were aboard.

The National Weather Service says that more than 12 inches was reported in Saginaw County, including in Bridgeport and Taymouth townships.

Saginaw County 911 Director Tom McIntyre said in Saginaw County alone, there were more than 230 accidents on Tuesday, with around a dozen of those accidents having injuries. Although, none were life-threatening.

Snow totals as of Wednesday morning were from a storm that got going in Michigan on Tuesday, with heavy snow also reported in the Lansing area. In western Michigan, more than 6 inches was reported in Grand Rapids.

Less snow fell in much of southeastern Michigan, including Detroit.

Schools in some parts of Michigan's Lower Peninsula were closed Wednesday for a second consecutive day.
