OAKLAND COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Michael LaJoice has been declared competent to stand trial according to the Oakland County Prosecutor's office.

LaJoice is charged with 14 felonies, accused of embezzling from the Clarkston Brandon Community Credit Union.

“Mr. LaJoice admitted to embezzling an excess of $20 million," said Det. Dave Hendrick, Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

The money was allegedly taken between October and December of 2015.

LaJoice is better known in Mid-Michigan as the owner of the now-closed Chasse Latin Dance Studio in Fenton.

He was sent to the Center for Forensic Psychiatry after his attorney said he was not competent to stand trial.

At last check, LaJoice was still in jail.
