A Mid-Michigan man falls through the ice and is found hypothermic and confused.

An ambulance was called to a house on Dobson Road in Huron County’s Lincoln Township at 2:30 a.m. after the man was found.

Apparently the 42-year-old Filion area resident had been snowmobiling with his father earlier in the night. He dropped his father off and went home on snowmobile. When the man’s father tried to reach him later, and no one answered, the father, and another family member went looking for the man.

After searching with no luck, they returned back to the house and heard someone calling for help from a pond nearby. They found the man lying on bad ice, hypothermic and confused.

They pulled him to safety, got him in a warm room, and called for help.

It was delayed after the ambulance got stuck in the snow, and had to be pulled out by a tractor.

The victim eventually was taken to the hospital where he is expected to recover.

It’s not clear how long he was in the water during the more than 3.5 hours he was unaccounted for, but the victim thought it was for a long time.
