MT. PLEASANT, MI (WNEM) -

Another mistrial has been declared in the trial of a woman accused of killing her granddaughter’s father.

A judge confirms that improper jury communications caused the mistrial in Mary Bigford’s murder trial.

Bigford, from Lake, is accused of shooting Lawrence Howard,39, of Fenton, to death in Mt. Pleasant last April.

Howard's body was found inside of a car at the Chase Run Apartment complex parking lot.

Helen Seeley, a witness to the event told TV5 last year she saw a woman with two children in tow, including one in a stroller, spray a car with bullets right before her eyes in broad daylight.

"She left the stroller and grabbed the kids and took off," Seeley said.

Police said Bilford is Howard's child's maternal grandmother.

Jury selection for a third trial is set to begin May 2.
