BURTON, MI (WNEM) -

Bentley Middle School parent Jeff Hoffner said he is embarrassed by the twin scandals that have rocked the school district.

Superintendent Rebekah Dupuis is accused of having a sexual encounter with another employee at the school.

Athletic director Jeremy Trent was fired last week for making an inappropriate comment about a student.

Dozens of parents and students gathered for the school board meeting, many voicing support of Trent, but disdain for Dupuis.

"There's families and communities that he's helped other than just at school. But the superintendent, I support removal," Jeff Hoffner said.

One of Trent's students said he doesn't buy the allegations.

"He makes me not only want to be a better person, but he's a great guy honestly," Joey Hoffner said.

The school board didn't comment much on Tuesday night, other than reading from a prepared statement.

"It is our responsibility to protect the quality opportunities and programs for our students," said Penny Kentish-McWilliams, school board president.

While the school board continues their investigation, parents are hoping the district can soon move forward.

"I'm happy to see the community come together to restructure and try to get it back to the great school it once was,"Jeff  Hoffner said.

Parents and students said they just want the drama to be over with.

"It's not something kids should be involved in," a parent said.
