BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

Many of you contacted us regarding an alleged assault of a child at Kolb School in Bay City this week.

Several other media outlets reported the incident, and now the Bay City Department of Public Safety says that the victim’s parent has withdrawn the complaint.

Investigators also say that it has been revealed that no adult males were involved, and the child was not assaulted with a pipe. The matter is now considered closed.

A woman claiming to be the boy’s grandmother commented on the police department’s post. She says that the boy actually got into a fight with a classmate. She says he lied because he thought he would be in less trouble when coming home late and in muddy clothes.

The woman also answered questions about the boy having a concussion. She claims that her grandson hit his head during the fight, and that the other boy has come forward.

In the post the woman thanks the community for the outpouring of support and concern. She also thanks the police department for their quick investigation and resolution of the issue.

She also offers her deepest apologies to all.
