FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Citing ice conditions, Wednesday’s Flint Firebirds hockey game is being moved to Saginaw.

The Firebirds are set to square off against the London Knights, and will now play the game at the Dow Event Center in Saginaw, starting at 7 p.m.

Firebirds team president, Costa Papista states: “We are erring on the side of player safety by moving our game to Saginaw this evening. We thank our season ticket holders, sponsors, fans and our local media members for their understanding. The Saginaw Spirit organization and the Dow Event Center have been tremendous partners by hosting our home date tonight. We are fortunate to have another first class facility and OHL partner 45 minutes north of Flint.”

A mechanical issue with the infrastructure that makes the ice is to blame, and it is being repaired.

All Firebirds purchased tickets and parking passes for the event will be honored.

General admission is $10 and Saginaw Spirit season ticket holders and sponsors will receive discounted admission for $5.
