SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

People with old, unused electronics lying around their houses had a chance to dispose of them at an event in Mid-Michigan on Thursday.

SVRC Industries of Saginaw collected old computers and other items at a local mall for proper disposal.

The non-profit organization just started getting into electronic recycling this year.

It has a brand new machine that will destroy information on computer hard drives, giving people peace of mind that info on the drive won't fall into the wrong hands.

"It will be shredded into tiny chunks of metal so absolutely no data could possibly be used from that," said Eve Flynn, SVRC.

SVRC will hold another recycling event within the next couple of months.
