NOVI, MI (AP) -

A 26-year-old Detroit woman has been charged after a suburban police officer was dragged by a vehicle during a traffic stop.

Novi police say Chantell Sturdivant was arraigned Thursday on resisting and obstructing and other charges.

Police say a driver was stopped March 7 for disobeying a traffic signal. The officer later learned the driver had a suspended license and warrants.

After learning she was being arrested, the driver asked to get her cellphone to make arrangements for her children who were in the vehicle.

She drove off as the officer grabbed her arm. The officer let go, but suffered minor injuries.

The U.S. Marshalls Service arrested Sturdivant March 11th in Cobb County Georgia.

Her bond was set at $500,000. She faces a March 24th probable cause conference.
