FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

An Amtrak train is making a special delivery in Mid-Michigan.

The train rolled into Flint Monday night carrying more than 41,000 bottles of water donated to residents in the city.

Employees at stations and Amtrak facilities along the Northeast Corridor, and in Chicago, have donated the water.

The train, which carried a special water-designated baggage car made stops at seven stations, including New York’s Penn Station, Washington Union Station and Chicago Union Station.

The water will be handed over to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, which will distribute it to residents.

"The donations keep coming and we are very thankful," said Flint Mayor Karen Weaver. "While we look forward to the day that we can feel comfortable using the water coming from our taps, we're just not there yet. So we appreciate those who continue to donate bottled water and filters. We appreciate the generosity and support."
