LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Figures show unemployment in Michigan continues to fall.

The state Department of Technology, Management & Budget reports Wednesday that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in February dipped to 4.8 percent. It was 4.9 percent in January.

Total employment rose over the month by 36,000 while the number of unemployed declined by 4,000. February also marked the eight consecutive months of gains in Michigan's workforce level.

The U.S. jobless rate in February was 4.9 percent. Michigan's jobless rate was 5.9 percent in February 2015.

Gov. Rick Snyder says that in 2010 "Michigan's unemployment was among the worst in the nation and today it is below the national average."
