BEECHER, MI (WNEM) -

Beecher legend and former NFL great Carl Banks paid a visit to his old high school on Thursday morning.

Banks was in the house to present a golden football to the school.

The NFL is presenting the ball to each high school that produced a Super Bowl champion as part of the 50th anniversary this past February.

It also gave Banks an opportunity to share a positive message, the same message his former coaches at Beecher shared with him.

"And you go through life and you have reminders of what's right and what's wrong," Banks said. "And those voices stayed with me, I’m over 50 years-old now, and I still know the difference and what it means to do things the right way because of some of the things I’ve learned from those guys."

And he picked a great day to show up at Beecher High, as the boys basketball team is in the state semi-finals.
