SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

The late season winter storm that has impacted Mid-Michigan over the last 36 hours is finally winding down late this evening. The heaviest and most persistent precipitation will be focused north and west of the Tri-Cities this evening and overnight. Additional snow accumulation of around an inch is possible north of the Saginaw Bay in towns such as Gladwin and Houghton Lake. The snow should end in this area by 2:00am.

A few flurries developed in Saginaw as I updated this article, and that is about all that will impact the Tri-Cities area for the rest of the night. However, temperatures falling into the middle 20s overnight may cause a few slick spots to develop on the roadways. Be careful during the morning commute.

Areas near I-69, including Flint and Lapeer can expect a few spotty rain and snow showers through about midnight. No accumulation is expected, but temperatures will drop into the upper 20s overnight so a few icy spots could impact the morning rush.

Friday:

Break out the sunglasses! A return to sunshine is expected heading into the last day of the workweek. An area of high pressure will build into the area, bringing clearing skies and lighter winds. High temperatures will top out near 40 degrees, so we will still be running several degrees below the average high temperature for this time of the year (average high: 46 degrees).

Friday Night:

If you have Friday night plans, Mother Nature will allow them to go on as scheduled. Dry conditions are anticipated along with clear skies and calm winds. The clear and calm conditions will allow temperatures to fall into the upper 20s overnight. Warm weather gear will be needed, but you may be able to skip the hat and gloves.

Saturday:

Did you have some limbs and branches fall in the yard due to the snow and ice? Well, Saturday is the pick day of the weekend for storm clean-up. High pressure will continue to impact the area, bringing another day of much deserved calm to Mid-Michigan. Partly sunny skies and light southerly winds will allow temperatures to top out near 48 degrees.

Sunday:

Clouds and precipitation chances arrive along with the Easter Bunny on Sunday. Showers will develop out ahead of a weak area of low pressure that will track across the region. Easter Sunday low temperatures will only fall into the middle 30s, with highs expected to top out near 49 degrees.
