Around 20 Plexiglas rabbits have taken over the front lawn of the Saginaw County Courthouse.

“I think they look fantastic! It’s a cold morning and they brighten up an otherwise dreary day,” said Bob Ortman, a Saginaw resident.

The six-foot tall bunnies are a welcome invasion every Easter season. One that some residents tell us help make their community unique.

“I think it’s original too, and I’m glad that it’s here in Saginaw. You know, we get so much bad feedback you know, this is a positive thing and we do have things for the kids,” said Letisha Washington.

Each rabbit can be sponsored by a different organization. They run the gamut, from a scholarly hare, to a ready-to-eat chocolate treat and there is even one wearing a Saginaw Spirit jersey.

“I think they’re beautiful. I just really enjoy looking at them every year and it reminds us of spring. I just wish they’d bring warmer temperatures with them when they put them up,” said Rev. Bob Richards.

The rabbits will be on-hand for the tenth annual Old Town Easter Egg hunt on March 26. Appropriate guards over the 20,000 egg treats that will be available, starting at noon, for kids.
