A naked man was tased and arrested by officials after running in and out of traffic on a highway.

Deputies from the Isabella County Sheriff's Department were called to the scene on M-20 after receiving a call for a disorderly, naked man running in and out of traffic. The deputies were told the 32-year-old suspect may have been hit by one or more vehicles.

It happened on W. M-20 and Winn Road in Isabella County's Deerfield Township about 1 p.m. on March 26.

Upon arrival, the officers told the suspect to get on the ground so they could take him into custody. The suspect failed to listen to the orders, the sheriff's department said.

The suspect went to walk away and then turned and started walking towards one of the deputies. The deputy warned the suspect he would get tased if he did not listen, the department said.

The deputy deployed the taser after failing to get the suspect to comply.

The department said the taser failed to make adequate contact and did not have any impact on the suspect. The suspect then started heading towards a second deputy.

That deputy also deployed his taser and the suspect was brought to the ground, the department said.

The deputies attempted to handcuff the suspect who told them he was on methamphetamine, the department said.

After struggling to handcuff the suspect, the deputies were able to put him in the back of a patrol car.

The suspect then began to bang his head against the windows of the patrol car, the department said. He was further restrained to protect himself.

Prior to the deputies arrival, the suspect attempted to enter two vehicles that were travelling on M-20, the department said.

The first vehicle was driven by a male. He had his wife and two children in the vehicle. The suspect approached the vehicle and demanded the driver to open the door, according to the department. The driver told investigators the suspect fell at one point and he may have ran over his foot.

The driver drove away and called police. During that time, the suspect approached another vehicle driven by a woman. He was yelling at her while grabbing his penis, the department said.

The suspect was transported to McLaren ER for evaluation and assessment of injuries, he was then sent to a mental health facility for evaluation.

His name is being withheld pending arraignment.
